Join renowned ceramicist Rachel Wood for an immersive three-day masterclass at The Waldron.

This  three-day clay workshop is designed to entice you into the rhythmic, grounding world of pinching and coiling, two ancient handbuilding techniques that open up endless possibilities. We begin with playful, hands-on exploration, encouraging you to listen to the clay, test its limits, and discover how it wants to move and respond. As the days unfold, you’ll steadily build confidence and skill, learning how subtle shifts in pressure, rhythm, and intentional marks transform the form. By the end, you’ll not only have a solid foundation in pinching and coiling, but also a deeper, more intuitive relationship with the material itself.

Rachel offers thoughtful, personalised guidance throughout,demonstrating techniques, sharing approaches to form and surface, and opening a window into her own making philosophy. Her sculptural works will surround you in the studio, creating a rich visual landscape to draw inspiration from as you explore, experiment, and find your own voice in clay.

This masterclass is designed for ceramic enthusiasts of all levels who are eager to expand their skills and explore new creative avenues. By the end of the three days, you’ll have a deeper appreciation for the interplay between technique and intuition, as well as your own handcrafted pieces that reflect the unique processes you’ve learned.
