Paula Dunn
Paula Dunn is a landscape painter who lives and works in Yorkshire. Inspired by walking the moors and the ever-changing weather, her work explores the relationship between light, atmosphere, and the landscape, capturing the emotional experience of place rather than a literal representation of it.
Working predominantly in oils and cold wax, Paula’s practice has evolved from representational landscapes towards increasingly expressive and abstract interpretations. Her paintings are built intuitively, beginning with layers of colour, texture, and mark-making that create depth and atmosphere. As each painting develops, memories of places, changing weather, and fleeting moments begin to emerge, guiding the composition while allowing the work to retain a sense of openness and mystery. Hovering on the edge of abstraction, her paintings invite viewers to connect with the landscape through feeling as much as observation.
Paula’s paintings are held in private collections around the world. She is a contributing artist to the award-winning Waymaking: An Anthology of Prose, Poetry and Artwork by Women Inspired by
the Landscape (Vertebrate Publishing), and in 2025 her debut book, Atmospheric Landscapes: Using Oils and Cold Wax, was published by Crowood Press.
