Rie Tsuruta is a ceramic artist whose work explores simplicity, texture, and the quiet beauty of functional forms. Drawing inspiration from natural landscapes and everyday rituals, her practice balances traditional techniques with a contemporary sensibility.
Rie Tsuruta was born in Japan and later moved to the UK to study ceramics, completing a BA at the University of Brighton and an MA at the Royal College of Art before developing her ceramic practice in the UK.
Through her ceramics, Rie emphasizes thoughtful making, material awareness, and the subtle dialogue between hand, clay, and fire. In her workshops, she encourages participants to slow down, experiment, and develop a personal connection to the process of working with clay.
