Your Course

Contemporary Acrylic Painting,

Explore the dynamic world of acrylic painting, a versatile medium known for its quick drying time and bold colours. In this course, you will dive deep into the techniques that makes acrylic paintings so distinct, from applying dabs and blocks of colour to understanding colour mixing and light perception. Through practical demonstrations and step-by-step guidance, you will learn how to break down complex scenes into manageable chunks, painting a range of subjects from landscapes, still life and portraiture.

Led by Hashim Akib, a professional artist with decades of experience, this course will guide you through the process of painting in a loose, expressive style, capturing the essence of your subject without overworking details. By the end, you will have a deeper understanding of how to manipulate acrylics for maximum impact, working confidently with brushstrokes, colour contrasts, and compositions that tell a story.

Who is this online course for?

This course is ideal for anyone looking to explore new painting techniques, particularly those interested in acrylics. Whether you are a beginner looking to develop your skills or an experienced painter wanting to try a new style, this course will provide practical insights and creative inspiration.

Hashim Akib began his career as an illustrator. For 15 years he worked with a wide range of famous clients including The New Yorker, Time magazine and the Royal Mail. The discipline of his profession gave Hashim a solid grounding in drawing and painting which set him in excellent stead for a move into fine art. His painting quickly gained recognition and he was awarded the title of Artist of the Year 2009 by the SAA (Society of All Artists). Hashim’s work can be found in private collections across the UK and overseas. He has exhibited with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, New English Art Club, Society of Wildlife Artists, David Shepherd Artist of the Year and Royal Society of Marine Artists at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London. His work features in the UK’s National Art Collection. Ever keen to share his expertise, Hashim has also taught his unique techniques to art schools in the UK, Italy and France.

He has written several books, including Vibrant Acrylics and Painting Portraits in

Acrylics and has a new book published by Search Press entitled ‘ Acrylic Companion’.
