GOING WILD IN WATERCOLOUR, with Jake Winkle

Using subject matter of mainly wildlife and animals students will learn to be expressive with watercolour.  Jake’s direct paint and follow classes will guide students through all the essential watercolour techniques including ‘wet in wet’, ‘dry brush’, ‘laying a variegated wash’, ‘spatter’ and ‘expressive mark making’, all using uncluttered watercolour and fabulous colour.

Students can expect to paint two pictures a day and should come prepared with all their usual watercolour equipment including paint, brushes and enough good quality watercolour paper for six paintings plus practice, minimum size 15” x 11” either stretched or taped to a board.  They will also need 2B and 2H pencils, a rubber, masking fluid and white body colour such as white ‘gouache.  Jake will provide all subject matter photographs as well as tracing paper and sketches for those who would prefer not to draw freehand.  Tubes of watercolour are preferred to pans but not essential.’
