Susie Koren
Susie is a Sussex based mixed media textile artist. Inspired by the muted palette of windswept northern beaches, maps and geology, it is the colour light and emptiness she strives to capture.
Combining expressive hand stitch, painting using earth pigments mixed in the soya milk binder she developed her work endeavours to raise an awareness of the eroding fragile coastline. Solitary walking is fundamental to her creativity, experiencing the repetitive rhythms of the nature, gathering, recording colour texture line, these sketchbook observations are an invaluable studio resource.
Susie’s work is exhibited and sold internationally, selected Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, RWA Bristol, Sussex Contemporary and Discerning Eye. Awards include Royal Cambrian Selectors Prize and Fine Art Textile Award. Susie teaches the Observational Sketchbook workshop at West Dean College.
